The Standard

Apparently in our house I'm the Cat Standard. Whenever something is odd with the other two, they get compared to me. For example, take last night. I was minding my own business napping upstairs while everyone else was downstairs. I love my alone time and I was peacefully sleeping on top of one of the scratching posts. Along came the Woman and she rudely woke me up by sticking her fingers in my mouth and inspecting my gums. How very rude!! Well my gums are just fine thank-you-very-much. I had them cleaned 4 years ago and I'm trying to not have to go through that ever again. The VET says my teeth look very good.

Since the VET told Kaze she has immuno-compromised gingivitis the Woman has been obsessivly brushing her teeth (much to Kaze's dismay). Last night she checked Latte and found his gums to be as red as Kaze's. Of course he does a better job of fighting the Woman off but he still got crud put on his gums.

But why does this always have to be my problem? I'm the most easy going cat and have had few health problems in my life (other than the time I jumped out of that 2 story window). I'm a big healthy Man Cat so I don't know how you could ever compare me to Kaze & Latte, there is just no comparisson.

Chase, I guess there is a lot to put up with when you are the big mancat of the family. I am proud of you for being The Standard!

When you're the best, you're the best. Efurrybody gets compared to you. I know what that's like since compared to my brofur... er-hem... I am the best.

Ut oh. We're pretty sure that Mommy is gonna be checking our gums now. She worries about teeth a lot, but has not been very successful at getting anycat's teeth brushed. Vincent had very bad teeth (some of them actually dissolved completely and some had to be pulled), so she tries to brush our teeth. Of course we fight her and it doesn't work too well. Has anycat tried the stuff you put in your water dish?

Chase, that stinks when youz are awaken from a nice an wonderful nap. We all get compared to each other when it comes to health issues. Meowmize says it's because we are all different. so each of us have somefing to contribute, hehe..Pounce

Oh Chase that would make me furry mad. I know Cheysuli has it and she is going to get to meet our homeopathic vet one of these days for it but Georgia and I don't have it! I think it's more common in Oriental breeds.

geez, that was rude. Tell your woman that Meezers more often than not haf teef and gum prollems. It's part of being a Meezer I guess. So, if Latte has red gums and he's young like me, he might haf the same disease I haf. I hadded to haf 5 teefs pulled out and I'm not efenn 2 yet!

You are the best. You set a high standard, and not many cats can meet it.
I want to hear what happened with the 2-story window!
I've never had a cleaning in 10 years, and Victor needed one after only a year. More proof that I'm the superior feline in our house.

PS My woman's putting stuff in our water dish, like riley & tiki asked. Time will tell. We don't taste it.

We've been getting stuff in our water dish for 6 months now. I think its been helping me but we'll have to see.

How come it's the gums of the other 2 that has pwobwems but you had to get your mouth poked into as well?

That's so unfair!

Poor Chase!!! And to be awakened for that is beyond ridiculous!!! You should put the bitey on your mom.

Hey, we've had a couple of vets say that our Herpes cats are prone to getting inflamed gums and stuff and probably need their teeth cleaned more often than healthy cats. Could that be Kaze's issue?
