Here we have a great example of me giving of myself for others. This is baby Latte when he was 3 or 4 months old. He was really tiny and needed a good big brother to watch over him. I had to keep him really warm and snuggled so he'd feel safe and loved. I was very good at being his protector. Since then he's grown to a big little cat but he still loves me the most. He rubs on me and snuggles with me all of the time. Its good to be a good big brother.
I've been tagged!
1. Lets face it, without me you would never know what really goes on in our house. Those other two....not exactly reality based all of the time.
2. It is a connection for me and the Woman. We've been a lot closer since I started blogging.
3. I got a harem from blogging! I have the most gorgeous group of ladies cats called Chase's Charmers! Without blogging....I'd have Kaze and the Woman. Not exactly ideal.
4. The Awesome Man thinks its cool that I get stuff in the mail. Now if Kaze or Latte get stuff he doesn't give the Woman as much crap.
5. People like my furrs....I like to share my furrs everywhere. I like to shed a lot so I have plenty to share!!
I'm not sure who has/hasn't been tagged so if you haven't, leave a comment and I'll add you and consider yourself tagged!
The other night I was the only cat in the snuggle room because lets face it, the other two are BAD seeds while I don't bother anyone. So I woke up around 3am and decided I wanted to snuggle. I couldn't wake the Awesome Man so I tried the Woman. Usually I can get her to do whatever I want because she is so honored when I choose her. Sure enough she lifted her arm and I lay down and started kneading at her armpit. Usually I would lick at her neck and nuzzle but I know that keeps her up so I just kneaded and purred. She hugged me like a teddy bear and it was nice. Earlier that night I actually sat on her lap in front of the TV! I NEVER sit on laps.
What do I get for my generosity? NOTHING. Absolutely freaking nothing. No extra Temptations, no stinky goodness, no turkey, and no yogurt. I mean, why did I bother touching her and being nice to her if she didn't give me something in return. I don't know why I try....
One of my favorite things to do is help make the bed. I am really good at making sure the sheet is tight and there is nothing hidden under the clean sheets. It has always been one of my favorite jobs to help make the bed and Latte never used to care. That is until Kaze came....now we all help make the bed. See, you can tell I'm a little annoyed that the other two are there "helping".
Here you can see that where my white furs mix with my tiger furs there is tan fur. It works kind of like a border. I'm not shy about my tummy. I like to lie on my back with my paws curled up so that my white belly is very exposed. You have to be proud of your belly, you have to embrace the fluffyness or the ponch or whatever else you might have there. All tummies are beautiful. I mean, how many people can resist an up turned belly? I think few.
Here you can see how my size really relates to the small holes. Usually I like to sleep on top of this so Latte & Kaze can't fit too because they ALWAYS crash my napping parties where I'm dreaming of my Charmers. I'm super excited my Uncle T is coming to visit this weekend!!! I haven't seen him in 4 years. He's not really my uncle but he's a great friend. We play the bite game. I've left scars on his hand. I've also been known to give him the tail poof. I'm going to have to rest up all week so he can spend the whole weekend playing the bite-game.
Sorry I was MIA yesterday. The Woman was at home in bed all day long and she had helped Latte & Kaze get there posts ready the night before. Of course, I got the short straw as usual. So today I give you a picture of me fitting my fairly large self into a hole that should really only hold a cat Latte's size. Truly, I'm bent in half here.
I bring you.....SNOW! That's right...its on the ground here and I got to touch it. It was cold and wet and squishy. The air smelled really good though. I don't understand why Spring won't just hurry up and officially get here. We don't have any flowers or anything but the Robins are outside the windows. I hope you all have a very lovely first day of Spring!!
Before I told you about my best friend the woofie. She is a Golden Retriever and we grew up together at the "house" in Massachusetts. We caught mice together, got yelled at for getting on the Foo-ton, along with other things. I loved ZuZu and we got along really well. I liked when she tried to bite my tummy because I could bunny kick her nose. Unfortunately the timing of ZuZu living with the people was just not right. The Woman just started college and the Awesome Man worked 90 miles to the east so no one could give ZuZu (at that time a year old) the time she deserved. After a year ZuZu went back to live with the Awesome Man's parents. She was supposed to come back to live with us when we got our house but by then The Awesome Man's little sister and his parents were quite attached and ZuZu is really happy with them. Sometimes she comes for visits and I give her the same tail poof that I give the Awesome Man.
Last Man Cat Monday I was scratching on something not sanctioned. Today I'm scratching on my favorite material. Its good stuff!
The people were home all weekend long due to snow/ice so I had to hang out upstairs a lot so I got some good solid nap times.
A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths.
An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, Menu Foods said in announcing the North American recall. Product testing has not revealed a link explaining the reported cases of illness and death, the company said.
"At this juncture, we're not 100 percent sure what's happened," said Paul Henderson, the company's president and chief executive officer.
The recall covers the company's "cuts and gravy" style food, which consists of chunks of meat in gravy, sold in cans and small foil pouches between Dec. 3 and March 6. The pet food was sold by stores operated by the Kroger Company, Safeway Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and PetSmart Inc., among others, Henderson said.
Menu Foods did not immediately provide a full list of brand names and lot numbers covered by the recall, saying they would be posted on its Web site — http://www.menufoods.com/recall — early Saturday. Consumers with questions can call (800) 551-7392.
The company said it manufacturers for 17 of the top 20 North American retailers. It is also a contract manufacturer for the top branded pet food companies. Its three U.S. and one Canadian factory produce more than 1 billion containers of wet pet food a year. The recall covers pet food made at company plants in Emporia, Kan., and Pennsauken, N.J., Henderson said.
Henderson said the company received an undisclosed number of owner complaints of vomiting and kidney failure in dogs and cats after they had been fed its products. It has tested its products but not found a cause for the sickness.
"To date, the tests have not indicated any problems with the product," Henderson said.
The company alerted the Food and Drug Administration, which already has inspectors in one of the two plants, Henderson said. The FDA was working to nail down brand names covered by the recall, agency spokesman Mike Herndon said.
Menu Foods is majority owned by the Menu Foods Income Fund, based in Ontario, Canada.
The list is up and several of our pouches of Nutro are on the list. However they do not fall into the date ranges so I guess we're OK. Make sure you check the list because there are LOTS of brands on it!!
Interesting fact but I live two towns away from Pennsauken, NJ. I didn't realize there was a cat food company 5 minutes down the road!
Yup...just hangin', chilliin', relaxin' in style. You know, a Big Man Cat can't be afraid to let it all hang out. Its Friday so I'm thinking of going out tonight with the Charmers. Let me know who's up for a night on the town. I'm thinking we'll start with some niptinies on my front porch and then head into Philly to party and maybe go dancing? Whatever you ladies are up for!
He was building a new TV stand for the living room and of course I had to help. I had to test the cardboard to make sure it was strong enough! Just when I was getting cozy the Awesome Man picked up the first piece and pretended he was going to squish me! Kaze almosted peed herself in fear. The Woman was laughing. I was scared for a second but then I remembered something. He's the Awesome Man...he would never hurt me.
I got to go out in the stroller on Saturday! It was so much fun (even though Latte came too). I lay down and just sniffed the air. Ah...SPRING is on its way! I even got to go out onto the Sun Porch and scratch the furniture out there to put my scent on it since its been so long. I love it out there. I'm quite a content cat.
This is how the Awesome Man "tries" to evade my deadly jaws. He pulls back his hand but I go after him anyway! Sure, sometimes I end up clapping my paws together but other times I can get a great grip around his wrist.
(Right now I'm staring out the window at "nothing" and Latte is too. We're completely freaking the Woman out! Dumb Woman....there are BIRDS out there.)
Happy Birthday to my good friend Icon Baxter Bentley! He is seven years old and I myself will be turning 7 sometime in early April. Ahem, we're still young at heart!!!
All of that wrestling with the Awesome Man got me really tired. So I decided I needed to find a nice place to nap that was warm and safe. I know you'll be shocked that I tell you I decided to snuggle with the Woman. She was sitting on the couch just watching TV and I know she'll pet me and not expect purrs so it was a perfect spot. Actually, two nights in a row I've chosen to snuggle with her. You know I'm feeling magnanimous when I actually CHOOSE to snuggle with the WOMAN.
It is bright and sunny today so I'm staring out the windows at the birdies and squirrels looking forward to when I can go out in the stroller!
I've often talked about my love for the Awesome Man. Well I have a special thing that I do when I'm all excited to see him and feeling very purry towards him. The base of my tail stands on end, kind of like if you get scared, but I only do it when I'm happy and its only the bottom of my tail. This is my special thing that I do ONLY for the Awesome Man.
That is the sign of True Love.
I decided to be a good big brother I decided to let her snuggle. Plus she's like a little heater so I didn't mind all that much. I just dreamt that she was a Charmer and then I was able to tolerate her. I'm just happy its a new week and I can teleport over to my Charmers because I need some adult time after kaze-sitting all weekend long.
I don't mind the rain as long as its not thundering. I HATE thunderstorms. They make me hide in the people litter box room behind the door. Or on the steps with my head against a riser. It is really raining outside but there is no thunder so I'm enjoying the down time. I haven't left the Millie Bed all night. I was there when the Woman got home and I was there when she came downstairs in the morning. I told her I'm conserving my strength since she has decided to STARVE ME with no stinky goodness. Sadly, the Awesome Man does not like the rain as he found a roof leak....that doesn't sound good.
